1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Dreams of School ("the Platform," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Platform. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.

2. Platform Description

Dreams of School is an online platform that connects students seeking educational support with sponsors (individuals, companies, and institutions) willing to provide financial assistance. The Platform facilitates discovery, messaging, sponsorship agreements, and payment processing between students and sponsors.

We act as an intermediary — we are not a party to any sponsorship agreement between students and sponsors, nor do we guarantee any outcomes, educational or otherwise.

3. Eligibility

To create an account on the Platform, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age, OR
Be registered by an educational institution that has obtained appropriate parental or guardian consent on your behalf
Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
Not have been previously banned from the Platform

Students under 18 may only access the Platform through an institutional account. The institution is responsible for obtaining and maintaining any required parental or guardian consent.

4. Account Responsibilities

When you create an account, you agree to:

Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and in your profile
Maintain the security of your password and account credentials
Promptly update your information if it changes
Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access your account. Each user must have their own account.

5. User Roles

Students

Students create profiles describing their educational background, needs, and goals. By creating a profile, you consent to making this information visible to sponsors and other users on the Platform, subject to your visibility settings. You represent that all information in your profile is truthful and accurate.

Institutions

Educational institutions may register and manage student accounts on behalf of their students. Institutions are responsible for the accuracy of student information they provide and for obtaining appropriate consent from students (and parents/guardians for minors) before creating accounts.

6. Messaging

The Platform provides a messaging system for communication between sponsors and students. Sponsors initiate the first message; once contact is established, both parties may continue the conversation. Messages are stored on our servers and may be reviewed by administrators for safety and compliance purposes. You agree not to use the messaging system to:

Send spam, unsolicited promotions, or repetitive messages
Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users
Share illegal content or content that exploits minors
Solicit personal financial information outside the Platform's payment system
Attempt to arrange payments outside the Platform

7. Sponsorship Agreements

When a sponsor and student agree to a sponsorship arrangement, the Platform facilitates the creation of a formal sponsorship agreement. Both parties must accept the terms of the sponsorship before payments can begin.

Dreams of School is not a party to the sponsorship agreement between you and another user. We do not guarantee that sponsors will fulfill their commitments, that students will use funds as described, or that any particular outcome will result from a sponsorship.

Either party may end a sponsorship through the Platform. Ending a sponsorship does not entitle either party to a refund of payments already made, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

8. Payments and Fees

All payments on the Platform are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. By making or receiving payments through the Platform, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

For Sponsors

When you make a sponsorship payment, the amount you pay includes a platform service fee. The total amount (including any fees) will be clearly displayed before you confirm each payment. Payments are processed in the currency specified at the time of the transaction.

For Students

To receive sponsorship payments, you must set up a Stripe connected account. By doing so, you agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Payouts to your connected account are subject to a holding period for security purposes. Stripe's standard processing fees apply to payouts.

Refunds and Disputes

Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you believe a payment was made in error or you have a dispute, contact us at support@1to1scholarships.com. We will work with Stripe to resolve payment disputes in accordance with applicable laws and Stripe's dispute resolution process.

9. Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you upload to the Platform (profile information, photos, documents, messages). By uploading content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the Platform.

You represent that you have the right to upload any content you provide and that it does not infringe on anyone else's rights. We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.

The Platform itself — including its design, code, logos, and branding — is the property of Dreams of School and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Platform without our written consent.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or intentions
Create fake profiles or use the Platform under false pretenses
Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to circumvent the Platform's payment system
Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Platform without permission
Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful content
Interfere with the Platform's operation or other users' access
Use information obtained through the Platform for purposes unrelated to educational sponsorship

11. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to other users or the Platform.

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at support@1to1scholarships.com. Upon account deletion:

Your profile will be removed from public visibility immediately
Your personal data will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law
Payment records will be retained for 7 years as required for tax and financial compliance
Active sponsorships must be resolved before account deletion can be completed

12. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

The Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
Any sponsorship will achieve its intended educational outcome
Users' profiles or representations are accurate or truthful
Payments will be used for the stated purposes

We do not perform background checks on users. You are responsible for exercising your own judgment when interacting with other users.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Dreams of School, its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount of platform fees you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dreams of School and its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of another user or third party.

15. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with another user, we encourage you to contact us so we can attempt to help resolve it. However, we are not obligated to mediate or resolve disputes between users.

Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the Platform that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable laws. You agree to attempt to resolve any dispute with us informally by contacting support@1to1scholarships.com before initiating formal proceedings.

16. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Dreams of School operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights of consumers that cannot be waived or limited by contract.

17. Changes to Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you must stop using the Platform and may request account deletion.
